Divorce by
Mediation
Inexpensive, No Retainer, Free Consultation
As a family mediator, I help divorcing couples work
out their own settlement agreements in a private,
confidential atmosphere. We cover such issues as
custody, visitation, shared parenting, division of
marital assets and debts, child support, and
alimony. The typical cases I have handled takes two
2-hour mediation sessions, one 1-hour session, and
three hours to prepare the Marital Settlement
Agreement, Financial Affidavits, Child Support
Guideline Worksheet, Petition for Dissolution of
Marriage (Divorce), Answer and Waiver, Final
Judgment. and the other papers needed to obtain a
divorce in Court without attorneys. My mediator fee
for these eight hours totals $750 per party which is
spread over the three sessions; much less than the
fees of two attorneys battling in court. American
Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa are accepted.
I give a free consultation on the telephone to each
spouse to further explain divorce mediation and
answer any of your questions.
Mediation
provides you with the opportunity to make
decisions based on your wants, needs and lifestyle
that can effect you and your family for a very long
time. The alternative is to go to court and allow a
judge to make decisions which will be based on the
law. Mediation provides you with an opportunity to
talk with each other and reach some decisions about
how you want your family to look after the divorce.
Our product is a signed agreement.
- My role
during this meeting is impartial. I typically have
not met either of the parties before. I assist you
in talking with each other. It’s not my job, nor
am I permitted, to decide what is right or wrong
or to tell you how to resolve the issues that
brought you here. At times we’ll talk in a group
or I may speak to you privately.
- Your job
is to decide on how you will reorganize some of
the ways in which your family is structured. I
believe that you have the ability to figure out a
resolution that makes sense to you and your
family.
With over 25
years experience in the mental health profession,
including such areas as family counseling, parent
education, child custody evaluations, psychological
evaluations, and expertise with a wide variety of
handicapped populations, including knowledge of
resources available in the community, I bring a
unique perspective to the mediation process. My
first 60 hours of training in Family and Divorce
Mediation were completed in 1983 in McLean,
Virginia. More recently, I was trained in Ft.
Lauderdale and I am certified by the
Florida Supreme Court as a Family
Mediator and I am trained as a Parenting
Coordinator. I have extensive experience in working
in the legal system in the Central Florida area. .
Family cases frequently need someone who is
sensitive to relationship issues; knowledgeable
about the “best interests” of children; and familiar
with family litigation practices and family law. In
addition to extensive experience in these areas, I
have advanced training in anger management, stress
management, and emotional intelligence, areas that
facilitate the mediation process. I bring years of
experience and skills in assisting people to
communicate and resolve family issues through
compromise and peaceful resolution.
All information in
our process, other than an executed agreement, is
confidential and inadmissible as evidence in any
subsequent legal proceeding, unless the parties
agree. We are bound by FL Statute 44 to maintain
confidentiality except where required by law.
